Reflections on My First Year as MCCS Principal

This year (my first year at MCCS) has been full of the Lord’s grace. I have witnessed the Lord’s power and provision for our school community in numerous ways. I have enjoyed getting to know the staff, parents and student body. I have witnessed students growing deeper in their understanding of and connection to God, laying the foundation for a more mature faith in Christ.

Our parents share story after story with me about how their student was bullied in a previous school but now, at MCCS, their student feels safe and is thriving. The most important lesson that I learned this year is how vital this ministry is to our community. Parents and students involved with our school receive much needed spiritual, emotional and academic support. Our school is a powerful symbol of our church’s dedication to the spiritual needs of children, youth and the unreached in inner-city Baltimore.  I look forward to what new things the Lord will do for us, in us and with us in my second year as Principal of Mt. Clare Christian School.

Thank you for your prayers and faithful support of this ministry!

Graduation 2015

2 Timothy 4:7- “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”

IMG_20150613_153705618This June, we celebrated the graduation of two of our seniors, Hannah Martin and Rachel Stein!   This graduation was especially poignant for me as this is my first class of graduating seniors as principal of Mt. Clare. Hannah and Rachel graduated from Mt. Clare on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at 3 PM.

Both Rachel and Hannah worked hard to complete their program requirements while balancing working part-time (Rachel) and leading a Children’s ministry for Wilkens Avenue Mennonite Church (Hannah). I appreciate the way both ladies invested their time in younger students, modeled good citizenship, compassion and care for their peers. They both volunteered and served the school in various ways throughout their time at Mt. Clare.

We pray that they will experience joy and more of God’s presence in their future endeavors!

YES TEAM

For the past 9 months, a group of prayerful, ministry-minded young adults have served faithfully in our school and church community. Soon our YES Team will complete their assignment here in Batimore City. We have grown to love each member of the team. They have prayed with us, partnered in ministry with us, lead us into deeper worship of God and impacted the Kingdom of God here and throughout the district. We praise God for Maria, Evan, Esther and Brianna for their devoted service to God and to MCCS.

If you know of young adults (18-30 years) who are interested in serving domestically and internationally for a 9-11 month assignment, you can direct them to the Eastern Mennonite Missions website at www.emm.org.
