MCCS Graduation 2016!

On June 18th we celebrated the graduation of two MCCS seniors, Samuel Deichmiller and Eden Scholtz. Friends and family gathered in the sanctuary of Wilkens Avenue Mennonite Church to honor and recognize the achievements of the graduates. Eden will be heading to Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. She plans to major in Nursing. Samuel plans to pursue a career in Construction. We pray that the Lord would bless Eden and Sam in their future endeavors and that they will continue to seek the Lord, engage in Christian community and never forget their alma mater! We will have a large (for us J) class of students graduating in 2017. If you would like to make a donation to our scholarship fund, please mark your gift with “Scholarship Fund” in the memo line.

New Staff at MCCS

This year we added a number of new staff to our team. They are all phenomenal young adults and spiritual mentors to our students.

10372313_10204375527842637_6293064106615621441_nBrianna Maust is our new Elementary Assistant. Last year, Brianna served as a short-term missionary with the YES program of Eastern Mennonite Missions. She felt the call to Baltimore again and returned to us this year as full-time staff. We are elated to have her return and share her heart for God with our students.

12122628_10101147922356343_652669932739552573_nRobert Weaver is our new Middle School Assistant. Robert is an alumnus of MCCS and has studied for the past two years at Eastern Mennonite University. Robert brings many skills to us in photography, drama, and his thorough knowledge of our curriculum. He is a wonderful addition to our staff team.

Picture1Tobias Stoner is our new High School Assistant. Originally from South Bend, Indiana, he became connected to us through North Baltimore Mennonite Church. Tobias studied at Princeton for two years , then decided to devote this year to urban ministry. He comes to us with a vast knowledge of history, science and math assisting our high school students in these subjects. Tobias is also a talented musician and singer. We are grateful for the divine connection that led him to MCCS.

LaurenLauren McGee is our YES/GO intern from Eastern Mennonite Missions. She is on a 9-month assignment here in Baltimore. She is originally from Colorado. She has a heart for youth and for seeing students growspiritually. She is working primarily with the Elementary and Middle School classrooms. Please keep Lauren in prayer as she is building relationships in our school community and is becoming accustomed to city life and urban ministry.

We are truly blessed to have the new staff. This year we have three male staff on our team. Unfortunately, many of our students do not have positive male role models in their lives. We are grateful to have Godly and nurturing male staff who serve as mentors to our male and female students, giving them a fuller picture of biblical manhood.

Year-End Giving

Why is year-end giving important?”

This question came to my mind as I was reflecting on this year. Though it may seem early, around this time of year, we begin planning for the next school year. The donations we receive at the end of this year provide a good indication of where we are financially. These funds affect our plans for hiring staff, admitting students, offering certain grade levels, and providing enrichment and academic programs to our students. Your gift puts us in a strong place as we go into the 2016-2017 school year. All gifts to MCCS are fully tax-deductible.

We thank you for your generous support of this ministry!
